FAQs
Q: Are non-members allowed to play at Pickled?
A: Yes. All players are members of Pickled. Every player has at least a "Street Pickle" membership and can be given access to our reservation system called CourtReserve. The Street Pickle membership is a zero-cost monthly plan. Street Pickle members pay increased reservation rates, do not receive discounts, and can only book courts 24 hours in advance.
Q: I heard there are no initiation or registration fees. Is that true?
A: Yes. 👍 You can join without initiation fees and cancel your membership whenever you want. You can treat it like a Netflix subscription. However, there are no refunds on your remaining time until the next renewal.
Q: Why are there Summer and Winter membership plans?
A: This may come as a shock... but we 💖 to play pickleball outdoors too! We understand that taking advantage of the Chicagoland summer is super important. So, our summer plans are priced differently.
Q: When are the Summer vs. Winter plans effective?
A: Our summer season is from May 1st through September 30th. The winter season is from October 1st through April 30th. But Chicago really only has two seasons: winter and construction. 😉
Q: What has changed since the Summer memberships have ended?
A: Summer membership plans are "unlimited" plans. We are still offering an unlimited plan in the winter called the "Pickle Addict." Check out the details below. Membership plans no longer include any guest passes since guests are now considered Street Pickles.
Q: What is the minimum amount of time I can book a court?
A: Thirty (30) minutes.
Q: What is the maximum amount of time I can book a court?
A: Two (2) hours.
Q: If I'm a Big Dill, what happens when I book with a Street Pickle?
A: Good question. The cost to each player when a court is booked with mixed membership plans, is determined by dividing the individual player’s hourly cost by four. For example, a one-hour reservation booked with three Big Dills and one Street Pickle will cost $4 ($16 ÷ 4 = $4) for each Big Dill and $8 ($32 ÷ 4 = $8) for the Street Pickle. A minimum of $8 will be charged if all players on a reservation are Street Pickles (even if there are six players per court). The CourtReserve app will calculate the cost for you because math is hard. And you'd rather spend that time playing pickleball. 😎
Q: How many courts can I book at the same time (concurrently)?
A: Street Pickles can book one court at a time. All other members can book a maximum of two courts at the same time. If you need more than two courts, please request a private party reservation here.
Q: What is a "Booking Window" and how does it work?
A: A booking window is the period of time your discounted rates apply. You can still reserve a court or participate in Open Play outside of the booking window, but you pay the Street Pickle rates. For example, if you are a Seasoned Pickle member and want to book a court on the weekend, you'll pay $32 per court/hour instead of $16.

Q: I'm a Seasoned Pickle, can I play evening and weekend Open Play?
A: Yes and you pay the Street Pickle rate ($10).

A: Good, then you're a Smart Pickle (not a membership plan yet).

A: Yes, check them out here. Members get $10 off per class. Quite a savings!

Q: So, what's the best plan for me?
A: If you are playing at Pickled more than twice a week, a membership is better for you. The best plan depends on when you anticipate playing. Seasoned Pickle plans are designed for stay-at-home parents and retirees, who can play on weekdays. Sunset Pickle plans are best for players who work during the day and don't play on weekends. If you anticipate playing either during the day or evening, plus weekends, the Big Dill is best for you. If you play more than five times a week, then you're an addict! And we've got a plan for you, too.
